Google Chrome is becoming increasingly more dominant over Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari etc. as people's main internet browser. In fact, it currently holds the record for the fastest browser out there. You can further improve the page-load time and overall performance of Google Chrome considerably by following these simple steps.
GPU Compositing
This enables your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to accelerate the load time on all web pages, not just graphic-intensive ones. The better your GPU the greater the difference, however it is still very helpful with less powerful video cards. This can easily boost your load time by one or two seconds. In the address bar type in "chrome:flags" without the quotation marks. This brings you to an experiments page designed for more advanced users, but don't be frightened! This method is very popular and easy and all you need to do is find the section saying "GPU compositing on all pages Mac, Windows, Linux" and change it to "Enabled". Done!
Disable Plugins
Plugins, such as Adobe Flash Player, Native Client and Java(TM), run in the background and use up precious memory which could be used otherwise. This extra memory is very useful for watching videos and just browsing the web in general. To start, type into the address bar "chrome:plugins" and you will receive a list of all the plugins currently installed on Chrome. Do not disable all of them as some, including Adobe Flash Player, Java(TM) and Adobe Shockwave Player, are almost necessary for playing games and videos on the web. However, your browser won't stop working simply because you have disabled all the plugins. You can click on the "+ Details" icon in the upper right corner of your screen to see more information on each plugin. When in doubt, just Google them, but I believe that most of them can be safely disabled.
Clear Cache
If you have been browsing with Google Chrome for a long time there will be a lot of stored data. This data includes browsing history, download history, cookies, saved passwords, Auto-fill form data, content licenses etc. This is actually useful to keep as, when you browse a previously-visited web page, Chrome can use this stored information to load the page faster rather than requesting it again. But, over time your cache can begin to get very big and can slow down browsing considerably. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete all at the same time on your keyboard, or left-click on the three lines near the top right corner of your page and click on "History", then click on "Clear browsing data...". Clear as much as you want, but it's not recommended to deauthorize content licenses.
Now Google Chrome should run much more quickly, and I almost guarantee you'll notice a difference. Post any queries in the Discussion Tab if you are having problems or send me a message. - framack4
